Last week I was guiding two return clients, Sue and Bridget, on my 'Torridon Trek'. This 8 day luxury walking holiday travels through and up onto the most stunning landscape we have in the British Isles. Completely unique and not offered by any other walking holiday company. I devised the route a couple of years ago, my last group loved it so much I decided to run it again this year. The route runs from Achnashellach and finishes at Dundonnell with an ascent of An Teallach, the finest mountain in the world.some photography.

MOUNTAIN HARE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

 Peter was out with me today on a Mountain Hare Photography Workshop. A reasonable weather forecast with some nice sunny intervals and the odd shower. A chilly and breezy day. We managed a lovely half hour with one hare. He was completely motionless, sitting facing the wind, rain and sunshine.

Day 3 on Tarmachan Mountaineering's Torridon trek. We leave Glen Torridon and a low level walk amidst some fantastic mountain scenery. From Coire Dubh Mor to Bridge of Grudie on the shores of beautiful Loch Maree.

TORRIDON TREK - DAY 2

 

Theres good points to lots of rain

Day 2 on Sue and Bridget's trek across Torridon.  Today was planned as a traverse of Liathach but the weather forecast put that one to bed. PlanB was Beinn Alligin but that fell by the wayside. Plan C was Beinn Damph. A fabulous 902m summit which we walked from behind our hotel accommodation. A dry start but rain falling by mid morning and winds increasing by early afternoon. A great day all the same! Better weather tomorrow.

Sue and Bridget are with me on a 8 day trek in the fabulous Torridon area. The two ladies are regular clients who I've guided in The Alps and in Scotland a few times now. This week long trek which I devised isn't run by any other company. It is a fabulous mix of walking through stunning and remote glens with a few days of summiting some of the best mountains on the planet. Day 1 starts at Achnashellach and finishes at Annat, near Torridon village.

It was a dry day and great views with cloud base off the summits. 5 minutes after setting off from Achnashellach we spotted at least 1 Golden Eagle. What a great start to the day. The track that runs through Coire Lair is just wonderful and easy..stunning scenery. Only the final hour into Torridon did we get some light rain. A top first day.

WET, WINDY & UNSETTLED

 

Start of Autumn colours

We've had a very warm, dry and mostly windless summer. We head into Autumn on a very wet, very windy and unsettled start to one of the most colourful periods of the year. The leaves are just starting to change. Hopefully all this wind won't shed them before they are in full and glorious colours by mid October. I've had chance to get out with the camera and get some decent periods between the rain and wind. Here's a few images from the last week.
