After the wee blip in the weather yesterday we have normal service today, it was hot and sunny in Courmayeur. With wall to wall blue skies and a nice wee breeze it was a perfect day. With a day off from guiding on the TMB I had a wander up to the Col d' Arp from town. It's a beautiful and very quiet walk up into the valley and I hardly saw a soul all day. Stunning views of the Grandes Jorasses as I headed into this grassy coire, a complete contrast from the next valley north which is a ski area. Fabulous views as far as the Grand Paradiso and north to the Monte Rosa masiff in the very clear air.  Its only another half hour from this Col to the Col de Youla where you get the most magnificent view of Mont Blanc, looking splendid in the afternoon light. On the return trip I came across many marmotts as well as countless Nutcracker birds. A fine day to be out, back on the road and TMB tomorrow.
