NORTHERN CORRIES WALK

The team on Cairn Lochan

Today I had the pleasure of guiding 11 fun guys from the Netherlands. They weren't particularly interested in getting up a Munro which is always nice, there is far more to the mountains than Munros. We had a wander into Coire an Lochain then up onto the plateau and around the Northern Corries. I wanted to show them the finest views in the Cairngorms,  unfortunately time (as always) ran out and they had to be back on the road to their next accommodation on Loch Tay for their barbecue. Nevertheless, we had a great walk and got to have lunch with the Reindeer who were on the summit of Cairn Lochan trying to cool down, no dout.

Beautiful day

Up high
Choosing just one day for a guided walk is always hit and miss with regards to fine weather. These guys are up in Scotland for 5 days, looks like they've picked a fine spell of weather. There was a stiff wind most of the day which made it very pleasant. It was forecast to be 17 C on Cairn Gorm summit.

More Reindeer than people encountered today

Sunbathing

The team all smiles
The Northern Corries is a classic walk and one of the best short walks on these mountains. Mist of the guys had never been walking in mountainous terrain. The Netherlands isn't known for hills and mountains. These guys were all fit and keen.

Great day

Quiet on the hills

A fun day and plenty of laughs.
