A WINTRY NORTHERN CORRIES, CAIRNGORMS

Coire an Lochain, cornices forming quickly
Rime ice on Cairn Lochan
Cornices, Cairn Lochan
Plenty of snow on eastern aspects, Fiacaill Buttress
Some wading
Eastern aspects, plenty of snow blown over
A very pleasant day out on the Cairngorm plateau. It was cold, dry and a stiff breeze making it feel a definite wintry day. Plenty of snow blown onto Eastern aspects from the strong westerlies over the last couple of days. The plateau, crags and ridges are rimed up. It's all looking good for winter if this cold spell lasts. We had a great day over the Northern Corries today. Not many folk out. It was overcast with poor visability at times. If you are thinking of heading out to Ben Macdui then make sure your navigation skills are up to it!
