WHAT'S LEFT AFTER THE MONSOON

Mountain Hare, waiting for snow too

Coire an Lochain
Deep ice on the lochan

Nature at it's best
They don't stay still for long
No snow below 850m

Another spell of mild temperatures and heavy rain along with high winds yesterday. Thankfully these monsoon spells we seem to get every week don't last very long. Long enough to strip the snow on the lower parts of the Cairngorms. There is still plenty of snow high up above 900m. Today in Coire an Lochain the Mountain Hare stuck out like a sore thumb in their winter coat. But they ain't daft, sheltering and under cover below the boulders. Plenty of water ice about and the snow that remains is solid and icy. Another breezy day, even in the coire. Wildlife photography challenging again.
