WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS

We all love a yawny hare
Last week I was running a couple of wildlife photography workshops. One for Mountain Hares and one for Ptarmigan. Booking just one day you are at the mercy of the weather, especially if it is for high up in The Cairngorms. On Wednesday Steve was out with me wanting a day to photograph Ptarmigan. We had already rescheduled this particular day from February. With a forecast of high winds and poor visibility on the original booked day meant a no no really. Last Wednesday we still had poor visibility and a forecast of constant snow. At least the winds were light, be thankful for small mercies! We managed to capture this pair, spotted from our tea time snow hole!

With a much better forecast on Friday, Andrew and I grabbed the best of the weather for Mountain Hare photography. A bright, sunny morning gave way to snow showers early afternoon. We spent over 4 hours with my wonderful friend who've I've been photographing at his usual form all winter. Don't forget that the Mountain Hare and Ptarmigan are fantastic to photograph any time of year. Check out my website for details and prices.

Yawning
In the space of just 5 days my friend has started to morph into his spring pelage. He'll be changing rapidly over the next few days. This is all triggered by a number of factors. Sex/age and individual hormones in relation to daylight hours. Not snow lying on the ground or coming down from the air.
Meanwhile his friend is well underway just a few metres from him

More snow is forecast throughout this week. The winter keeps coming!
A few more random images from this week with the proper camera.
