THE WALKERS HAUTE ROUTE - 64

Autumn colours

Monday 5th September.

My 64th Walkers Haute Route set off today.

MONT ROC - TRIENT

Lovely group of 8 folk, guiding for Mont Blanc Treks. Of all the companies I've worked for in The Alps over the last 17 years, Mont Blanc Treks are by far the best I've had the pleasure to guide for. A small adventure walking company based in the Chamonix Valley owned and run by Sara Wild .Why is it the best? Friendly, personal, customer and guide care & excellent accommodation. Sara 'accompanied ' me and my group once again this season up to the Swiss border at Col de Balme. To keep me 'legal' as it's almost impossible to obtain a work permit for France, thanks to all those who voted Brexit.

Autumn colours

Today was a beautiful day in the Chamonix Valley. Sunshine and some welcome 'normal' temperatures. A nice 22 C in the valley and lovely gentle breeze.

I love this time of year, the colours are turning to Autumn and the clarity of light that bit better with the much cooler overnight temperatures.

Afternoon break at Tseppes

A much finer descent off Col de Balme is via the wonderful and remote Tseppes Alp. This remote Alpine farm can only be reached by foot. The views into the Arppette Valley are superb and the trail is so much quieter as you're off the main TMB drag.We saw just 2 bikers on this section.
