SNOW, SUN & SMILES

Superb snow on the hills right now. It was snowing most of yesterday and overnight. Large accumulations on the tops and right down to 700m. It's still hard going but it's consolidating slowely. I was out on Ben Lawers S/SW ridge today. There was some avalanche debris on the south slopes, but this great wee ridge is taken direct and was mostly wind blown. The ridge is a big feature on Lawers, yet I never see anyone along it. Today there were big drifts in the fissure, will be great for a snow hole soon.

There was excellent sunny spells and just a few brief snow showers on the moderate to strong Westerly winds.

Forecast looks very wintery for the next few days with strong winds and snow showers.
