CORROUR TO KINLOCHLEVEN

I am guiding a large group of  14 Adventure Scouts from Edinburgh for two days in the Lochaber area. Today we took the beautiful West Highland Line train from Fort William to Corrour on Rannoch Moor. We set off in lovely temperatures and a nice breeze to keep the midgies at bay. As the day went on it got hotter and hotter. We ascended the excellent wee hill to the west of Corrour, Leum Uilleim. At 909m it's a tad under Munro height, fantastic! We continued west and then down to Loch Chiarain with it's lonely bothy for lunch. Then we continued on our way to Kinlochleven via the excellent right of way path. We saw no one all day until the Grey Mares waterfall near the end of the walk. I spotted many pairs of Golden Plover today and the whole route is a fantastic mix of great views, remoteness and wildlife watching. Fantastic stuff. The boys (and one girl scout) enjoyed the challenge and the weather! Unfortunately it looks like our mini heatwave is suspended for a day or two.
