TEMPERATURE INVERSIONS

Stunning light through the clouds

November has got off to cracking start. A dusting of occasional snow and ice on the tops, light winds and we still have the Autumn colours hanging on in the Strath. On Sunday I had a terrific day photographing the beautiful and atmospheric cloud conditions.

Autumn colours still vibrant

It was another morning of low cloud and fog in the strath. Good chances of the hills poking into clear skies. I only had to walk up to 500m before I was in warm sunshine. But on the way up there was mesmerising light, colour, cloud conditions.

Cloud dispersing

Mesmerising
The light and sun was changing within seconds, not minutes. Camera always in hand to capture it.

Finally I emerged into the sun and looking back the cloud was dissolving by mid day. The magic was starting to disappear.

The finale to the day, spending over an hour with this beautiful wee mountain hare. I've been seeing and photographing him since late summer. He is just coming into his winter pelage. Another 10-14 days and I think he will be fully white and ready for his first winter season.

This wee guys first change into winter pelage
