Mont Blanc, of course
Refuge Col de Balme
Penultimate day on this 10 day TMB. An easier day over the Col de Balme. The weather forecast had been updated overnight to a kinder day ahead. Sunshine predicted, sunshine we got! A slightly cooler day so much more pleasant to walk in the lower temperatures. Despite nearly 1000m of uphill to the Col it always seems much easier and shorter.  We got to the Refuge at the Col de Balme,  expecting the usual frosty welcome from the guiding. To my surprise and shock, a couple of younger folk open up the doors with lovely smiles and we were allowed to eat our own packed lunches outside! For anyone who has frequented this place you will know what it used to be like!
An easy descent and an early finish for the day. Makes up for our big, long days earlier in the tour!

Still no rain, after 9 days. But I think the UK has a better record!
