Navigation on pathless terrain |
Phil out on day 2 of his Navigation Course with Tarmachan Mountaineering.
With lighter winds we headed up higher and onto the Sgorans above beautiful Glenfeshie. I was hoping for some cloud to make things realistic but it was a clear day. These hills are still a Navigation challenge with plenty of pathless ground and featureless terrain. More compass work, contour interpretation, pacing and timing.
Windy but bearable |
Tops cleared |
Autumn colours |
Some beautiful sunshine today and Autumn colours glorious.
Sgor Gaoithe |
More pathless Navigation |
It's all in the details |
A great couple of days and Phil is keen to come out this winter on a course and on one of my Alpine treks. There was no arm twisting required 😀.
