A stunning, beautiful winters day today on Aonach Mor. Kevin, Joke,Ward and Kenny from Belgium are with me for the next two days on a winter skills course. We covered basic movement with ice axe and crampons, axe arrests, cutting steps and some avalanche awareness today on The Nid area. The overnight clear skies and low temperatures firmed up the snow pack nicely for some excellent cramponing at all levels. Hardly a breath of wind today and the sun now a little higher in the sky so it felt very Alpine.
