Rainbow watching
Overnight and into the morning the rain turned to snow on higher ground above 1000m or so. Karen and I set off around mid day after it had dried up and headed onto the Cairngorm plateau. By mid afternoon the cloud started to lift and break and we had some excellent sunny spells. There was sun, snow, cloud, beautiful light and many rainbows in just 5 hours. Plenty of geese, ptarmigan and fieldfares flying about, winter not far away now. Hills very quiet at the moment and we hardly saw anyone all day. Excellent day out.
