SWIMMING IN THE SNOW AGAIN
Another tough day of wading and shuffling and swimming in snow! Paul out with me on day two of his winter skills course with me. The snowgates were closed again up to Cairngorm Mountain so we had a day on Meall a' Bhuachaille looking at avalanche awareness and assessment. Needless to say the avalanche conditions are Considerable again today, much depth of soft windslab even at lower altitudes. It was colder today has the winds turned NW and almost constant snowfall in the afternoon after a dry morning. All Caledonian forest in Glenmore and Rothemurchis is absolutely stunning just now with snow covered trees. We did have some luxury lower down in the glen today as someone had trodden up the path but out on the open hill it was another knee height swim in the snow! A better day tomorrow in store weather wise but the snow will still be hard work!
