Plenty of winter climbing still available
The blue skies and bright sunshine continues! Today Karen, Elisabeth, Gerry & I had a great day around the Northern Corries in The Cairngorms. The snow was well frozen again and it was off and on with crampons. I gave up on this and reverted to cutting steps in the patches of snow on the plateau. The eastern aspects have the largest areas and other slopes are largely bare rock. Loads of excellent snow in the main climbing corries of Sneachda & Lochan. WE had another leisurely noon start today and wandered around the hill savouring the wonderful sunny skies. The wind picked up a bit toward the end of the afternoon and was chilly compared to the last two day. Another top day out and a great weekend with great company. Once again The Highlands is the best place to be. Winter conditions and great weather. Winter is far from over and still time for playing in the snowy mountains :)
