Flowers galore 

One of the finest sections of the entire TMB is the high level trail above Val Veny. From Lac Combal to Maison Ville above Courmayeur. It offers fine views of Monte Bianco and Grandes Jorasses.  The trail winds it's way up easily and contours across beautiful Alpine flower filled meadows. If you're luck you may well see a whole family of marmots , like we did today. Another big plus of taking this 'varient' is peace and quiet. Most folk tend to take the lower level option from the French border into Italy.
