WARM BUT TURNING COLDER

Our weather has been almost Summer like in recent days. It was very different this time last year when we had an excellent cover of snow on the Cairngorms. It was slightly cooler yesterday in the Monadhliath, I needed hat, gloves and a few layers on whilst photographing the beautiful Mountain Hare. These poor animals are vulnerable to predators now they are virtually all in their white winter pelage. They are clever though, for cover and camouflage they were tucked up beside the white lichen rocks.

It was a breezy but bright and sunny morning. Across on the other side of the Spey there was cloud sat on the tops of the high Cairngorms. By afternoon the winds abated slightly and I spent a wonderful hour with one individual in the rocks.

Not to worry. Another day of tropical temperatures before a big change on Thursday when it's forecast cold conditions and some snow. Bring it on.
