LANDSCPE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

One of my favourite locations for photography
Father and son team Alastair & Omar booked onto a 1 day Landscape Photography Workshop with me for Wednesday. Omar is just 11 years old, what a fine inspiration to young people to take up photography with 'proper' camera equipment. Armed with his Nikon D600 and a multitude of lenses, I guided Omar and his Father to what I consider the finest locations in the entire Cairngorms National Park. Not a single roadside location, just several hours of fine walking amidst stunning mountain scenery.

Stunning morning

With just one day to capture the Scottish mountains means you are at the mercy of the weather gods of course. Good fortune (and another 'not quite right' weather forecast) gave us over five hours in blue skies and bright sunshine!

'The' most glorious spot?
We were soon off any recognised paths and routes. Up on the Cairngorm plateau we were away from civilisation, crowds of people and noise. Along our journey we were also on the look out for wildlife too. Trying to cram landscape and wildlife photography into just one day is, of course, a tall order. I know as I have tried, sometimes unsuccessfully! You end up rushing about and not giving enough time to one or the other spheres of photography.

It was great to see such a young, enthusiastic and budding photographer taking in the beautiful, natural mountainscapes. What a contrast from the world of selfie culture and 'me, me, me' on mobile phone snaps you see far too often nowadays.
No drones here, just a 3 hour walk up a hill

The cloud rolled in by mid afternoon, we got the best of today's conditions. I'm looking forward to seeing some of Omar's work. A top day out and great company.

I provide my photography workshops throughout the year, summer and winter. Like all my days out and courses I offer flexibility (if I am free) to go with the best weather day. The time out on the hills are geared towards your aspirations and inclinations. This is backed up with the security of a fully qualified summer & winter mountain leader for your safety and peace of mind whilst out in remote mountain areas.
