BEINN EIGHE

Tripple Buttress,  Coire Mhic Fhearchair
A top week of guiding in Torridon. Despite some unseasonable weather for 3 of the days, we managed to grab two brilliant hill days. We climbed Beinn Alligin on Wednesday and Beinn Eighe on Saturday.  I was guiding Bridget, Stewart & Alex on this classic ridge walk. The weather forecast was for a dry day so it was nice not to be clad in waterproofs.

Blue skies enroute to Spidean Coire nan Clach
It was overcast when we left Glen Torridon but some breaks in the cloud. We saw no one all the way up Coire an Laoigh. We spotted at least 3 pairs of Ptarmigan in the coire. Shortly before gaining the ridge we were in cloud.

Another Munro
There was a stiff, cool breeze on the summit ridges but not enough for any problems getting to our first Munro of the day, Spidean Coire nan Clach. The cloud lifted slowly.

The skies cleared on the fabulous ridge walk west towards the second Munro of Ruadh Stac Mor. Eyes are constantly drawn towards Liathach's fabulous chiselled profile as you walk along the easy ridge.

Skies clear

Fabulous views slong the ridge

The winds were still strong which cleared the skies. It wasn't too windy to impede walking. We saw only a handful of folk.

Ruadh Stac Mor

Its a fair distance to the second of Beinn Eighes Munro summits, Ruadh Stac Mor. The ridge  ascends and descends a few minor tops.

The descent into Coire Mhic Fhearchair is initially steep. Once down into this amazing Coire it is full of wonderful rock architecture with The magnificent Tripple Buttress looming above. You need some route finding skills as you make your way to the beautiful Lochn Fearchair.  There are several fabulous wee waterfalls and pools of crystal clear water.

Wonderful

Wee waterfalls
You eventually pick up the well trodden path that descends slowly around into Coire Dubh Mor. The views and beauty isn't over. For the next 45 minutes you have Liathach showing off its Northern Corries. What a finish. What a day.
