BYNACK MORE

Sheltered on the East slopes of Bynack More

I have a great bunch of guys out with me over the next 3 days.

Two Paul's, two Andys & Richard are all friends and looking for a few days of guided  hillwalking in the Cairngorms.

They had a great introduction to the 'Cairngorms Breeze' today on Bynack More. After looking at weather forecast and a couple of easier options they were all keen to get up a Munro summit. Bynack More is a lovely hill, isolated from the main Cairngorm plateau and sees fewer folk because of the longer walk-in and starting  from a lower altitude, no doubt.

A sheltered summit

Their 1st Munro

Today we saw just one other person on the hill.

With a forecast of gusts up to 60mph on the tops,  I took a line on the Eastern slopes below the summit plateau,  sheltered nicely here. This is the 4th consecutive time I've had to take this devious route to gain the summit. Its a wonderful place. In summer the ground is full of Beaberry, crowberry and lots of lichens. There is often Ptarmigan and Mountain Hare sheltering here also.

The guys relishing the challenge, we were up and down in less than 7 hrs. Some wonderful sunshine and just the odd, short shower.

A good introduction  for the winter winds this season.
