My annual pilgrimage down to The Yorkshire Dales last week, working on
Duke of Edinburgh Award for
Addventure Awards. Working with the teenagers on their Silver and Gold training before undertaking the assessment expedition in summer. By Silver and Gold standard the lads are well skilled in navigation, first aid and backpacking across high ground. As of previous years, the end of March into April brings it's usual mix of cold, snowy weather, some lovely sunshine and some dreich wet stuff. WE had it all this last week. All good character building stuff for the youngsters. Something every one should do! As always it was great banter with all the other leaders based at Dalesbridge with John, Mark, Gill, Trudy, Barry and Paul. Nice to be home and back to high, wintry mountains and not flooded muck filled farm paths and zillions of stiles and gates :) . Winter is far from over as another Arctic blast will make for a definite winter feel this week. Still plenty of snow on the higher Munros including Ben Nevis and The Cairngorms. Axes and crampons aren't away in my attic yet!
