FIRST SNOWS TO AVIEMORE THIS WINTER

The first snowfall down at Aviemore level this season. Cold air and fresh snow last night. This morning it was cold and clear. Fantastic. A beautiful day to be out on the hills before the blizzards arrive tomorrow. The trees low down were just glorious in the beautiful December light.

Up on the Monadhliath it was the coldest day so far. Probably around minus 5 C. But what a day. Some cloud drifted around but by afternoon it was just stunning.  The light winds died down to almost nothing at 800m by 2pm. Ankle deep snow at this altitude. Brilliant stuff. We've got a few days of heavy snow to come on top so should look even better by the late weekend. Bring it on!
