It's always been mine/our tradition to get a White Christmas with a day on the hill in snow. In over 30 odd years there have only been a handful or 'unwhite' ones. For Christmas 2020 we decided on The Fara to be our festive ascent.
The Fara stands at 911m, a smidgen short of Munro status and all the better for it. We love our Christmas Day mountains quiet. There is just a thin covering of snow to around 750m with a decent covering above that. The temperature did rise as the day progressed. It was cloudy but by the time we reached the summit the sun tried to break through the cloud and it was beautiful.
It's not a big day at all if you just walk to the highest top. There is a wonderful ridge that continues over many tops without much height loss or gain. Another day, when the views are clear.
Merry Christmas!
