THE DEVIL'S RIDGE UNDER SNOW

There have been a few odd cold days with some dustings of snow on the Scottish mountains this Autumn. Today though was truely a winter day out with overnight snow down to 850m and below freezing on the higher summits. Steve & Chris are out with me for four days of mountain fun and we kicked off with a great day out on The Devils Ridge. It was raining as we headed up to the Munro of Sgurr a' Mhaim but this turned to snow at about 800m. It was then the fun bit traversing the ridge. Its  Grade 1 winter terrain but wasn't quite full on winter today although if you didn't have an ice axe or good stiff boots then I would think you may turn back. Its an easy descent off and back down the glen before dark. Good day out for the guys and in at the deep end-first Time with axes in anger!
