IT'S BACK TO WINTER, AGAIN

After another warm interlude we were back to winter conditions again today. Sleet and hail  falling at the Coire Cas carpark by late morning with temperatures around plus 4 C. By the time we returned it was hovering around freezing point and snowing. The winds were due to ease off late morning so we had a leisurely 11am start for a trip around the Northern Corries. Plenty of winter skills groups around and at least 2 Mountain Rescue Teams training in the Northern Cairngorms. Poor visibility all day with very limited views. No faffing or much stopping today, we were round in 3 hours which was enough to test out the gear. Nice to have winter back again. There have been many tropical interludes to this winter season. Let's hope we are in for a long, cold and snowy spell.
