Empty Fiacaill
Another day of wall to wall sunshine and full cover of snow in The Cairngorms. The winds had eased just a little, down to 40-50mph and it was a tad milder but still well below freezing on the tops. Walking at lower altitudes is now much easier with some consolidation of the snowpack in the melt/freeze cycle and a lot of windblown slopes. Having a well beaten trail up into the corries also helps to move faster! A grand day out on the Fiacaill a coire Sneachda ridge. There seemed to be lots of groups heading up today but it was deserted by the time I was on it. Well sheltered from the southerly winds today until gaining the plateau. Lots of snow being transported down into Coire an t-Sneachda and especially into the Goat Track area. Fabulous 360 degree views today in the sparkling light. Another top day out.
