Penultimate day on this final Haute Route of 2018.  From Gruben there is just one Col to get over into the Mattertal, the Matterhorn Valley. The Augstboard Pass isn't the finest of the days views though. That accolade is reserved for later in the day as a rocky traverse path swings over towards the deep trench of the Mattertal. From this Eagle  eye's viewpoint you get to see many of the big 4000m peaks. The Dom, Tashorn,  Monte Rosa, Breithorn,  Weisshorn and The Bishorn.  But no sign of the Matterhorn, that's tomorrow!  Another glorious sunny day. Cold morning s we set off at 0700. We saw no one until after the Pass. Fabulous.
