The easiest section of the Haute Route is from Arolla to La Sage. Virtually all down hill and good paths. So easy I call it an ' rest day'
The trail hugs the hillside above the Upper Val d'Herens with stunning views back towards Mont Collon and Pigne d'Arolla. After a couple of hours the path comes to a clearing in the trees and the popular beauty spot of Lac Bleau. For the first time ever 3 of my group went for a dip in the cold lake. After Elevenses we headed lower down the valley and the old town of Les Hauderes. After lunch it's another easy stroll uphill to the beautiful village of La Sage.
