NAVIGATION

Leanne was on the first day of her winter navigation course with me today. We were on the hills to the North of Glen Lyon covering map reading, contour interpretation and taking bearings as we made our way over to Carn Mairg. The weather forecast wasn't quite accurate, we had light winds, cloud base above tops most of the day and only a bit of sleet/drizzle late afternoon. It was though perfect timing for cloud cover over the tops of Carn Mairg which made for good route selection. We had some soft snow in places on Easterly aspects above 800m. There is still quite a lot of snow in North through to Eastern slopes and corries. A good freeze and it'll be excellent again.
