The sun came out to play later in the afternoon today after a cloudy morning and mild temperatures again. John, Calum and I reluctantly took the gondola at the Nevis Range but soon 'escaped' the skiing crowds and headed West to the Allt Daim. The descent down to the glen here is usually straight forward but at the moment there is a considerable cornice here! Good steep ground skills from the word go for John & son. From the glen we headed back up onto the West slopes of Aonach Mor. Most of today we spent time on ascending and descending steep ground as well as route choice and avalanche evaluation. The snowpack is consolidating well now and with a dry week ahead with sun during the day and frosts at night conditions should become excellent.
