A rare occurance today, one of those above freezing level day on the hills this winter. John and 13 yr old son Calum are with me for a two day winter skills this weekend. Today we went up into the NE corrie of Stob Ban to cover basic movement on snow and ice, avalanche awareness and ice axe arresting. It was plus 4 degrees at sea level this morning so a welcome slight thaw with hopfully a re freeze to stabalise the snowpack. We spotted recent avalanche debris across the footpath into Coire Mhusagain (the popular route up to Stob Ban)at only 450m, looked like from around 3 days ago, see last pic. Brought down a couple of small trees.
