ALPINE CAIRNGORMS

Rime ice and nice coverage of new snow

Sunday 26th February.

Occasionally we get days like this.

Zero wind, wall to wall sun, reasonable snow cover and stunning clarity of light  today in the Cairngorms.

The mountains have been transformed into something more like a February day. It is always amazing how just a few hours of light snowfall and a bit of wind can quite dramatically change the landscape. Most of this new snow fell on Friday.

Beautiful rime ice was the highlight on today's walk. The temperatures were below freezing but in the sun and no wind it felt very pleasant.

A few more days like this will do nicely.
