Digging a Hasty pit |
Friday 24th February.
David was out with me today on a 1 day avalanche awareness course.
We spent the first hour and a half with coffee in Tisos cafe before heading out on the hill with the practical side.
A few cm's of fresh snow above 1000m |
Ice forming again |
Good to see some proper winter conditions back in the Cairngorms. With light snowfall, turning to steady snowfall by late afternoon. Good stability with more interesting stuff to look at.
Some breakable crust |
Rime ice |
There were a lot of folk turning back early on today, was it the poor visibility or the fact it is still very much winter conditions and they weren't equipped?
Rutchblock |
Steeper ground |
Great day with great company and great banter to go with full day of essential tuition.
