Not ideal wildlife photography conditions |
Wednesday 1st February.
Another rough, wild and snowy day in the Monadhliath.
Deena & Knut on day 3 of their Mountain Hare Photography hholiday.
Wind driven snow and cameras dont mix |
Slightly calmer by mid afternoon |
The morning sunshine from below was very deceiving. Once on the hill the strong winds were blowing a lot of snow around. Poor visibility to photograph the beautiful hares. A huge part of photographing these creatures is fieldcraft. The hares want to see you from a distance before they are relaxed and know you are not a threat. Unfortunately we missed out on 2 hares who shot off in the billowing snow flying around.
The photos don't really show how flying snow hinders visibility.
Not to worry, they have 2 more days for Mountain Hare moments.
