ANTICS ON BEN NEVIS

Colin and I had a good day out on  Ben Nevis today. The weather forecast was spot on, rain dying out by 10am (exactly, and it did!) and sunshine by afternoon. Colin had been on The Ben 30 years ago, but he hadn;t seen the delights of the north side of the mountain. We headed up the Allt a' Mhuillin and into Coire Leis. This is a nice way to appreciate the north face but without going over the CMD arete, so much shorter. Just has we were enjoying the solitude and peace a chopper came buzzing above us not far from the abseil posts,  couldn't quite make out exactly what was going on but there didnt seem to be any casualty being winched up, just the winchman being dropped off then shortely after being winched up again? Thankfully looked like nothing serious. Nice to see plenty of Dwarf Willow and Moss Campion in the coire. We arrived at the summit and were chatting away when a film crew at the summit area  started shouting over to us to 'move out the way 'as our voices were apparently being picked up on their mic! After last weeks heatwave there is now no snow left on the summit area, just around the Gardyloo area.  It was relitively quiet on the descent in warm sunshine and a nice breeze, keeping the midges away.
Looks set to be great weather in the Highlands over the next few days.
