Day 4 of Lynne & Craig's Cairngorm walking holiday with me this week. We had a lovely time in the Northern corries and plateau, finishing on Cairn Gorm summit, Munro number 4 for them. It was a very low cloud, humid and windless day on the summits. A few spots of early rain which brought out the midges! Think it is the worst day I have encountered with the wee blighters in the high tops of the Cairngorms. From carpark to tops. Keeps you moving! We saw no one until Cairn Gorm. We did see lots of fab wildlife though. For the first time ever I spotted a Golden Eagle above Coire an t-Sneachda. Plenty of ptarmigan and youngsters. Also the Snow Bunting in several spots.
Yesterday we were up on Sgor Gaoithe and had a dry day with views. We didn't quite manage to get back to the car before a soaking. Unfortunately my mobile also got very wet and is no kaput!
