WINTER SKILLS WEEEND

Well sheltered area

Snow softened in the mild overnight temperatures

Afternoon blue skies! Briefly!

Journey on snow

Good here
First open group winter course this year. The conditions and weather forecast wasn't ideal but we got plenty of essential skills into Day 1. The winds were actually far better than forecasted. The walk up Coire Cas was nicely sheltered. The rain turned to snow at around 1000m. Our area was fine and quite calm. We even got a dry period for an hour or so. The overnight and morning temperatures had gone above freezing on the tops but by early afternoon it was freezing at 1100m. Nice day and a nice wee group to kick off 2020. More snowfall overnight and into tomorrow so slowly winter is returning.
