It was a windy day on the high tops yesterday with plenty of snow showers, down to Aviemore level. Lots of snow being blown around no doubt. Today was a very nice day to be out. Light winds on the summits, minus 3 C on the tops and some wonderful cloud formations. We even got some sunshine. A much better day than was forecasted. Not surprisingly Eastern aspects had plenty of wind slab building up after the westerlies of last couple of days. It was hard work ploughing through any of this soft slab. Once onto the ridges it was well windblown and very rocky. No rime ice along the Fiacaill Coire Sneachda. Quiet with just two other folk and not much activity in the corries from what I could see. Another dump of fresh snow and higher winds again tomorrow. The SAIS Avalanche service begins tomorrow. Be avalanche aware folks.
