A Munro summit to finish

For Charlottes and Seans second day out in The Cairngorms we headed up to the Fiacaill Ridge. It was looking promising in the early morning with blue skies and views out to the north and west. By  late afternoon we were back into clagg and that's how it stayed for the rest of the day. Shame not to get the views along the Fiacaill but it's always an interesting route whatever the weather. A lot of fresh snow along the ridge. It was quite busy and a big bottleneck at the steepest section, so much so that a couple of teams ended up following us along the base of the pinnacles presumably because they were fed up and cold waiting in the queue! It was map and compass work again at the top. Some may say (including me!) that navigation is THE most important winter skill to acquire. Sean and Charlotte did grand, with white out conditions for much of the way from the top of Cairn Lochan to Cairn Gorm and all the way down Windy Ridge. A great couple of days, despite the lack of views. For groups getting these conditions is somewhat more important than blue skies?
