BREEZY DAY AGAIN

Staying upright today, note the glide crack
Aelf belay, very apt today
We found a less windy spot
And some icy snow for step cutting
Soft snow lower down

Paul demonstrating the 'wet nappy' position

Todays lovely winter skills location
Another sharp contrast in weather days today. After yesterdays glorious conditions it was back to a high winds period as the Atlantic front came sweeping across the Highlands. With forecasts of 90mph + on the summits it was time once again for an alternative location for Karen & Pauls winter skills day with me. We headed round to a lovely, scenic location, quite low down with plenty of wee steep sections and sheltered (sort of) from the gales. We packed into the day lots of vital movement skills, which included battling the storm and staying upright! The temperature rose during the day, which is good for the snow pack to consolidate and maybe a freeze for tomorrow. A tough day and a good introduction to the Cairngorm winds for Paul and Karen, well done for persevering!
