There was blue skies and a big yellow orb above Aviemore this morning. I suppose the biggest event today was NO wind, not even a sniffter of a breeze. This week I am joined by Martin and Isabel who are out with me on a 4 Day Winter Skills Course. A fine day to ease into the many aspects of venturing  on the Scottish hills. We covered avalanche awareness, movement up, down, across snow slopes. There are many areas of icy terrain so great conditions just now. The area below Windy Col is well scoured and had excellent hard, frozen snow to master crampon technique. We moved further around the coire in the afternoon and finished with some sliding. A few snow showers, the west seemed to have more sunshine today whilst south of the Highlands...... well we know whats going on down there with the weather, don't we?
