The theme of wild, snowy weather continues again today. Moe high winds and continues snowfall along with very poor visibility in The Cairngorms. Today I was joined by Judy and Janet, two members of the Highland Hillwalking Club on their annual winter skills course with me. I think the other members had heard about the inclement conditions, we had 6 last winter! This was Judys very first time out in winter and what a day to enjoy the full Scottish experience! We had a good chat about kit, weather and avalanche conditions before setting off. The ladies soon found out what all the fuss was about regarding what gear needs to be carried in winter and how organised you need to be with it all! We headed into Coire an t-sneachda and made slow progress in the furious winds up toward Windy Col. Well named spot. We dug a couple of snow shelters for a wee bit of respite at lunchtime. Then it was out and enduring the blizzards again before heading back down the corrie, with the full wind effect into our faces. Today's main winter skill was just persevering with the wild conditions and staying comfortable and warm and standing upright! I'm starting to get immune to the winds now. Then again, a day of light winds and blue skies wouldn't go amiss!
