A BLUEBIRD DAY

Dave capturing the Cairngorms

Friday 20th January.

Every now and again we get a respite from low cloud, blizzards, deep plunging into snow and poor visibility. Today was one of those. A beautifuly stunning mountain day in the Scottish Highlands,  glorious winter perfection.

Sastrugi - it's been windy

Dave had received one of my gift vouchers from his wife for Xmas. He booked his Mountain Hare Photography workshops on a random day in January. He picked a blinder.

Human prints, only ours

Mountain Hare activity

We had the entire hill to ourselves in the Monadhliath. Absolutely stonking day with great company. Dave is a very experienced winter climber and hillwalker. It was great banter swapping Mountaineering stories whilst we spent time amongst the mountain hares home.

Picnic with a view and no soggy snowy butties!

Great day for photography

A great day to spend my Birthday 🎂 😀.

Back to normal tomorrow. Windy, cloudy. A rise in temperatures after many days of very cold conditions on the hills. All very welcome. We need a melt/freeze period to get the avalanche potential down. It will also make progress in the hills a tad easier. I've done enough snow ploughing this week, thank you very much.

Sublime

Low snow, will disappear next few days
