COIRE AN T-SNEACHDA & CAIRN GORM

Windy Col
Second day out with the lovely folk from The Netherlands. Today's emphasis was on avalanche awareness and movement on steeper ground.

Alladin's Buttress, Coire an t-Sneachda

Another top day with my group of 6 lovely Dutch folk. Day 2 . We walked into a windy Coire an t-sneachda but found it well sheltered. We focused the day on Avalanche awareness and movement on steeper ground. The cold overnight temperatures has frozen the snowpack. I took my nice sharp crampons out today (not microspikes).
The Flat Iron

Not a single microspike seen today

We had a grand tour of the coire and moved up to Windy Col where there was no wind so a nice picnic there to admire the view.

Great snow conditions

In the afternoon we bagged Cairn Gorm. Frozen snow/ice all the way. Superb cramponing conditions. The wind had eased a tad and we got a bright spell on the top.

Wonderful light at the summit

A quick look into Ciste Mhearad but all the snowholes have been completely filled in with the recent snowfalls. Some fine, broody skies in contrast to the wonderful snow.
